Courses that are Eligible for the 2-Year 485 Visa Extension

The long-awaited Eligible Qualifications List is finally out and courses on this list are eligible for another 2 years on the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485)!  These courses are considered to lead to occupations that are in high demand in Australia.

This means that if you completed an eligible qualification, the duration of your 485 visa will be increased from:

• 2 years to 4 years for bachelor’s degrees;
• 3 years to 5 years for master’s degrees;
• 4 years to 6 years for all doctoral degrees.

Exciting!  How can I check if a course is eligible for the extension?

To check if the course you are planning to study, are currently studying, or have completed will be eligible for a 2-year 485 visa extension, you will need to obtain the CRICOS code for your course from your Certificate of Enrolment.  Once you’ve got the code, check it against the Eligible Qualifications List, which has now been passed as law.
