Karen earned a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, driven by her passion for travel, exploring beautiful destinations, and making a positive impact on people's lives. However, after completing her college internship with a travel agency and hotel, she realised that her true calling lay elsewhere. She aspired to work in a diverse and dynamic environment where she could assist individuals in achieving their goals. This led her to develop an interest in law and immigration, where she saw an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to people’s lives.
Karen began her career in the visa and migration industry, initially specialising in Schengen visas before undergoing extensive training in various visa assessment processes. She started as a visa officer at VFS Global, where she quickly progressed to a trainer and later took on the role of officer-in-charge (OIC), overseeing the entire operation.
Her work involved processing large volumes of visa applications, understanding the intricate policies of European countries such as the Schengen Area, the Balkan Peninsula, and the European Union, as well as Canada and Australia. Karen also gained extensive experience in handling client concerns, resolving issues, and liaising directly with embassy consulates.
Communicating with different embassies gave her valuable insights into visa assessment procedures and decision-making processes. This experience further fueled her determination to be more involved in the industry, not just assessing documents but ensuring successful outcomes for applicants. Her career journey has helped her develop exceptional teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking skills, along with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of immigration policies and procedures.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys immersing herself in activities that inspire and energise her. She loves reading books that captivate her interest and motivate her personal growth. Her passion for travel extends to trekking, where she finds joy in experiencing breathtaking landscapes and appreciating nature. Sundays hold special meaning for her as she attends church and reflects on her faith. To maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, she engages in jogging, badminton, and dancing, which also serve as great ways to unwind and stay fit.
Karen is fluent in English, Tagalog, and Kapampangan.
Karen is deeply motivated by the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives. The knowledge that her hard work and perseverance can help others achieve their dreams and aspirations fuels her passion for her work. Her journey in the migration industry has only strengthened her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. She takes pride in being part of a process that enables individuals to pursue better opportunities, build their careers, and improve their quality of life. Helping others realise their goals and achieve success is what truly inspires her every day.
